Day 107: Perspective
Today started off with Lori and I disagreeing with regard to Christmas tree choice for this year. Later in the day we had a hose on our washing machine break and we now have carpet pulled up and are doing the work of cleaning up after a minor flood. I would love to say that this was the worst of the day, but the reality of life bit hard with unwelcome news this morning.John Griffis, a friend since high school, fell off a ladder while roofing his house. His head hit the pavement of his driveway and he was seriously injured. After surgery to his brain, he is now resting in the ICU at Presbyterian Hospital here in Oklahoma City. The next 24 hours are critical for determining his prognosis.
John and I were roommates for 5 years beginning while we were in graduate school at OU and continuing until we both married. I introduced John to his future wife Saundra and he introduced me to my wife Lori. John is a math teacher and coach at Bethany Public Schools and just a few weeks ago he began teaching in my department at Southern Nazarene University.
When I began this blog I anticipated some of the things that would happen in the coming 365 days. I thought about holidays, vacations, weather change and other common events that I would probably incorporate into my photography. But what never crossed my mind was the reality of life's tragedies not abating because of my silly little photo blog. Today I got a real dose of perspective.
I didn't feel like posting a photo today. The thought of finding something to photograph and trying to approach it creatively was just not going to happen. So I brought up a photo of John and his wife that I took last April and thru a few tears I photographed the computer screen. Excuse me if I say I think it's some of my best work.

Comments on Day 107: Perspective
Not only have I been praying for John and their entire family since I heard, but I've said a special prayer for his friends .... including you .... because I can only imagine what this special man brings to all of you.
