Day 108: Taking pause

I wish more than anything that I could say that this photo was taken today. Instead I stood at my friend's hospital bed with no camera and only my mind to record such unwelcome images. Today I'm hitting the pause button on this blog. Until the time is right, I'm going to tend to other things. Right now I've sat here for a couple of hours trying to compose some thoughts into words. I keep typing and everything is hollow. It really is time to pause.

  • Jim, let me repeat, not only am I praying for the Griffis family, but also for all of John's friends, who I know are hurting as well.

  • You have learned the lesson of living life each day as it comes and have shared it well with each of us through your photography. Continue to do so as tragedy is just as much of life as the beautiful families you photograph. A snapshot in time is precious. I learned the lesson of Katrina - you never know when your photographs will be gone and you will have only your memories.

  • Kimi, you just addressed one of my life-fears .... losing my photos. But, like you said, perhaps this is a good lesson in making sure the memories in our head are just as precious as the ones in our photo albums.
